In the 2008 follow-up to Dead Space, players once again take on the role of Isaac Clarke. He is an engineer who previously fought the hideous “Necromorphs,” a race of polymorphic (shape-shifting) parasite aliens that feed on dead tissue and use corpses as hosts. Aboard the doomed “PlanetCracker,” the USG Ishimura spacecraft.

Three years after those events, Clarke is found abandoned in space and boarded aboard The Sprawl, a huge space station that orbits Titan, one of Saturn’s moons. Isaac is understandably traumatized by the events of the first game and haunted by memories of his girlfriend Nicole’s suicide, the numerous and hideous shapes and forms of the Necromorph horde, and the continual delusions of an apparition taking the form of Nicole.

Dead Space 2 looks and plays almost exactly the same as its predecessor. Players control Isaac using a third person camera. Isaac carries a gun in his hand and must aim the gun before it can be fired. Each weapon has an alternate attack and players are once again able to use stasis to slow down objects or enemies, as well as the telekinesis module to grab and throw objects or solve environmental puzzles.
